Test the water content of your honey to ensure it is ready for extraction and to avoid problems with fermentation.
Ready calibrated. Simply smear a drop of honey on the prism and look through the eyepiece towards the light.
You will see 3 scales.
Read off the figure against the right hand scale where the light meets the dark, this is the percentage of water present in the honey. Ignore the other two scales.
The first week’s loan is free but there is a charge of £5 per week after. Also the equipment should be returned clean and undamaged. A cleaning charge will be made if necessary and any missing or damaged parts will need to be paid for.
